Ayurveda Vidwan and Bhishagratna P.C. Ayyavarappaya treated patients and prepared his own Ayurvedic medicines. Over time, he began supplying these remedies to other Vaidyas across the then Madras Presidency, receiving orders and dispatching medicines through the Indian postal system. According to legend, a post office was established in the village of Peridepi to meet the growing demand for these medicinal deliveries.
Ayurveda Vidwan and Bhishagratna P.C. Ayyavarappayya authored 'Ayurveda Vaidya Sangrahamu' volumes 1 & 2 in Telugu. The first volume contains over 600 treatment modes, and the second volume is a book of formulations which went into several reprints thereafter. He also authored an Ayurvedic medical dictionary and other treaties.

Dr. D.L. Narayana (B.Com, DAM) carried forward the rich legacy of his father, Vaidya Vidwan Dubagunta Subramaniam, and grandfather, Ayurveda Vidwan and Bhishagratna P.C. Ayyavarappayya. Establishing a successful clinical practice in Vijayawada, he responded to the growing demand for quality Ayurvedic medicines by expanding manufacturing and distribution across the combined Andhra Pradesh under the name Indian Medicines Sales House (IMSH).
Dr. D.L. Narayana, along with his spouse Dr. D. Indumathi, established an independent manufacturing unit under the name Indian Medicine Industries (IMIS). In addition to his contributions to Ayurvedic practice, Dr. Narayana edited and published the Telugu journal ‘Indian Medicine’, which was widely circulated among Ayurvedic physicians across the combined Andhra Pradesh. The journal became a valuable platform for sharing best practices and fostering collaboration within the Ayurvedic community.
